Ystradgynlais RFC reveal incredible Lions XV to have played in Ystrad

The spotlight has been put on Ystradgynlais Welfare Ground in recent weeks. The community are looking to raise £100,000 to keep the fields. An area which has so much sporting history in the Swansea Valley.

However, Ystradgynlais RFC have put a massive WOW factor out by realising a 1-15 team to have played at the ground. It is a star-studied name of Welsh rugby. However they also ask whether anyone can name anyone else?

Shane Williams is NOT on the list. The former World rugby player of the year played 4 times for the Lions. Scoring two tries. Did he ever grace the Welfare Ground?

Whether he did or he didn’t. The list is incredible and here it is. Directly from Ystradgynlais RFC.

Ystradgynlais RFC who use the Welfare Ground Field are encourage people to donate to help secure funds to keep it. A charity ‘Ystradgynlais Community Welfare Ground Association’ has been set-up to do so.

The fields are also used for Bowls, Cricket, Football, Tennis and numerous sports and community events.

Terry Price dual rugby International! Certainly would have played cricket for Hendy against ystradgynlais! Larger than life character and I’m told one of the greatest full backs ever! Loved a pint and a chat and also a wonderful cricketer! Ask John Owen to confirm
