Penrhos Allotment Association
Penrhos allotment association would like to announce that work is to be completed very soon to build new raised beds at the site which has been granted and paid for by the Welsh Office.
Penrhos allotment association held a memorial event on the 13th of July 2025. The event was to celebrate life and work completed at the allotment by Michael Bush (Mike) who was one of the founding members of the allotment.
A go fund me page was set up in April by Penrhos Allotment Association to raise money to pay for a bench to commemorate Michael and to be placed at the allotments.
It was very clear that the funds would be reached to have the bench erected on the 13th of July which was also Mike’s birthday.
It was a brilliant day, the sky was blue and the sun shining, Gazebos were set up to help shade the attendees from the heat of the sun.
Many people came to the event, family of Michael, friends and also the allotment community members. There was a food buffet provided with Prosecco, wine, fruit juice as well as water.
The unveiling of the bench was done by Mr Tom Olney who was Mike’s best friend and the attendees all reflected how they knew Mike and what he had done for them.
The Penrhos Allotment Association would like to thank all who attended that day and also to the people whom without them, the event could not have taken place.
Thank you to everyone who brought food and drink for the buffet and a special thanks goes to Penycae Action Team, Kevin Charlton and Hannah Williams for the lend if their Gazebos and tables for the day and a massive thank you to Wood Memorial Benches LTD.
