Appeal for Information – Pontardawe Royal British Legion
The Pontardawe Royal British legion branch would like to appeal to anyone who may have any pictures / information or documents relating to any of the soldiers listed on the Pontardawe war memorial.
As part of our branch centenary celebrations. We would like to gather together as much information on the sons, fathers and brothers. All of which gave their lives for us that are mentioned on the war memorial. Maybe others that are not mentioned, but died as a direct result of their service.
We believe that this information should not be lost to time. By collecting as much as we can together we hope that the memory of these brave men and their ultimate sacrifice will endure in the hearts of our community for many generations to come.
As a branch, we are very committed and passionate about our responsibilities to the war dead. To their memory and the Royal British Legion has, since its humble beginnings, been charged by the British monarchy via the royal charter with the responsibility of remembrance and for keeping these men & women alive in the memories of the nation.
The community of Pontardawe has always been a very generous community. It has supported the Pontardawe branch in everything we have done. We hope that you will once again be able to support us in this endeavour.
