Free design & Tips

All our adverts come with the option of a free design service. Some of our advertisers have a ‘ready to go’ advert which we can simply drop into place, while others have a design that they would like tweaked, and for some, we are starting completely from scratch.

We are always happy to work with you in all cases to ensure that you are happy with your advert.

Some of our customers keep the exact same advert in with us for years. It has been known for us to change ’25 years’ experience’ to ’30 years’ for example (and nothing in-between). While some adverts get tweaked every month.

Here are Leons three tips for getting the advert right :-

Colours

“No matter how big or small a business is, it is always important to create a brand of sorts and the colours used are often the most important aspect of this. Two colours are the dream. If you have two colours that you associate with your business, then the content of the advert can change but the familiarity of the brand can stay month after month.”

Logo

“A good logo makes the design a lot easier, especially if it clearly states what type of business you are. Most businesses don’t enjoy the resources and exposure of McDonalds and so can’t get away with just an ‘M’. A logo that is based on the chosen colours and instantly says what type of business you are, will go a long way.”

Keep it simple

“There is nothing worst than an advert which is too complex or too ‘wordy’. Some readers will only see your advert for a second or two and so it needs to say what it is instantly. Photos can be great for this and can drag people into reading the text – but less is more.”

Working from scratch –

“I love designing a new advert from scratch. Over the years, I would hate to work out how many different adverts that I have designed over the years, but it will be hundreds. I obviously like it when the customer is delighted first time, however, I take no offence whatsoever when they aren’t. It is never ‘my’ advert and always the customers. They know their business best and they know what works for them and what they want to achieve.”

“I will usually take some information that they would like, any photos/logo that they would like in there and then come up with a draft. I’ll send that over and they may say that they like certain parts, want some things changed, they may love it all or they may say ‘sorry Leon but I hate all of it’ and I’ll try again. It is really important that the advertiser displays the advert as they want it.”
