I first moved to South Wales 30 years ago and to Ponty 17 years ago. I have been running Community Magazines in the area for 28 years and in Ponty for 26 years continually. Apart from the magazine I’ve been a Town Councillor for 6 years and Chair of the local food bank, PANTRY, for over 3 years. I love Ponty, I think we are blessed to have the facilities that we do. Very few towns of our size can boast an Arts Centre, Leisure Centre, Swimming Pool, Library as well as all the excellent shops that we have.
The residents are warm and creative. And although, sadly, the Pontardawe Festival as we knew it has long gone, it’s legacy remains in the excellent music venues around town. And smaller festivals still occur including the brilliant ‘Hearts of the Valley show.
The surrounding countryside is a haven for all types of wildlife and the Tawe and canal offer easy and excellent walks for those that want to relax.
We need to protect and enhance Ponty and the magazine continues to highlights all that’ on offer in our special little town.
